Faith Friday - Matthew 5:14-16
I'm currently reading through the book of Matthew, and I read this passage earlier this week. How incredible is it that God tells us that we are the "light of the world"? You don't turn on a light or light a candle to hide the illumination it gives; instead you shine it around so that people can see.
Christians are meant to function the same way. When we receive the Holy Spirit, God lights us. We are then supposed to share this light with other people. We are supposed to let our light shine. By doing this our motives can never be to bring ourselves glory and get attention for doing good things. Instead we are meant to be a shining light into an otherwise dark world, to bring glory to God. If we let the light of the Holy Spirit shine through us, then people will come to know God. It's not about what we can do, but what God can do through us.
Let's give ourselves fully to the work of the Lord, and always let our light shine before people. This is how people will come to know our awesome Lord and Savior.
